Overview

Our mission at the Indonesian Public Tax Consultants Association (AKP2I) is to promote a dynamic, professional, and ethical taxation profession in Indonesia. When you register, whether as a Member, Brevet Training participant, or PPL, you gain access to various resources and services to stay ahead of the curve. To provide these services and benefits seamlessly across our teams and offices in Indonesia and Southeast Asia, we sometimes need to share your information — always with a focus on keeping your data secure.

This Privacy Policy explains how your personal data is collected and used by AKP2I (hereinafter referred to as the "Data Controller", "we", or “Association”). By providing your personal data to us, you acknowledge and agree that your data will be processed by AKP2I, including any necessary data transfers to other parties, specifically the Directorate of Financial Profession Development and Supervision (Dit. PPPK) of the Directorate General of Financial Sector Stability and Development (Dit. SPSKP) of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia in accordance with the data integration program between the Association and the Ministry of Finance.

It is your responsibility to review and understand this Privacy Policy before providing your personal data to us. You should also review our Terms and Conditions. If you do not accept and agree to the Privacy Policy and/or Terms and Conditions, please do not provide your personal data to us, access our website, and/or use our products and services.

As our website and services evolve, our Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions may change from time to time. Whenever changes are made, the modified policies will be posted on our website and will be effective immediately. The version number displayed at the top of the page will change. Collection of Personal Data

In order to provide our products, services, and website, as well as for other purposes outlined in the Use of Information below, we collect and process personal data from members, trainees, customers, and other users. We may collect information from you such as, but not limited to, your name, email address, mailing address, phone/fax number, date of birth, gender, ethnicity, payment information, educational history, employment information, information related to your professional qualifications, your appointments and memberships, and information about your use of our and third-party websites, products, and services (“Personal Data”).

You are not required to provide all of the Personal Data listed, but if you do not, we may not be able to effectively provide our products, services, and information to you. In certain circumstances, you need to provide certain categories of Personal Data (including name, email address, and payment information) to enter into a contract with us and for us to perform that contract.

From time to time and as permitted by applicable law, we may collect Personal Data about you and update the Personal Data we already have from other third-party sources, including publicly available data sources, publicly available social networking sites such as LinkedIn, your employer or university/school, your tuition provider, exam provider, course provider, or data broker.

Use of Information

Your Personal Data may be used in the following ways:

  • To provide our products and services, such as membership registration, PPL and Tax Brevet Training.
  • To improve and refine our products and services, for example, by conducting internal research, analyzing user trends, and measuring demographics and interests.
  • To analyze the demographics of our membership body and the tax profession as a whole, including internal research related to diversity, which may include the use of your demographic information such as your age, gender, ethnicity, and/or geographic location. Please note that the collection of special categories of Personal Data, including ethnicity and gender, is voluntary and based on your explicit consent.
  • To process payments from you (including membership fees, registration fees, or exam fees).
  • To process payments to you (including refunds, speaker fees, moderator fees, or reimbursement of any kind).
  • For internal purposes, such as website and system administration or internal audits and reviews.
  • To provide access to restricted areas of our website.
  • To determine eligibility for membership, credentials, appointments, and volunteer opportunities.
  • To communicate with you regarding your membership or participation in various activities we organize.
  • To respond to your requests and questions.
  • To present relevant information to you when you visit our site or other third-party sites (including social media platforms).
  • To request your participation in surveys, focus groups, or other initiatives that help us gather information to develop and improve our products and services.
  • To evaluate your performance on continuing professional learning (CPL) courses and assist you in tracking your progress.
  • For scheduling, administrative, and exam registration purposes (e.g., tax consultant certification exams).
  • To publish membership directories and credential holders for membership verification and networking purposes. If you do not wish to be included in this public directory, you may opt out by contacting us using the contact information listed at the bottom of this Privacy Policy.
  • To comply with applicable laws (e.g., to comply with search warrants, subpoenas, or court orders) or to conduct ethical/professional conduct investigations.
  • We may use the information you provide and that we obtain from other sources to better understand your interests (profiling), which involves making automated decisions about you based on this information to tailor our interactions with you. You may opt out of such profiling at any time by contacting us (see User Rights and Data Protection Officer below).

We will process your Personal Data for the purposes identified above on the following bases:

  • Our Legitimate Interests, which include processing for the purposes of providing and improving the provision of our products, services, and information, as well as further advertising products and services to you.
  • Where such processing is necessary to perform our contract with you or to take steps prior to entering into a contract with you.
  • Your explicit consent, when collecting and processing special categories of Personal Data such as your ethnicity, gender, or confidential medical information.
  • As necessary to comply with our legal obligations and enforce our contractual agreements.
  • Where such processing is necessary to comply with our obligations to protect members of the public and the public interest, including maintaining a membership directory, regulatory activities, and disciplinary actions.
  • We will retain your information for as long as your account is active, as well as for a short additional period thereafter to cover any unusual issues or questions.

Sharing and Disclosure to Third Parties

We may disclose your Personal Data to third parties from time to time in the following circumstances:

  • You request or authorize the disclosure of your personal details to a third party.
  • The information is disclosed as permitted by applicable law (e.g., to comply with a search warrant, subpoena, or court order).
  • The information is disclosed to your employer, university, or tuition provider if they have an interest in your data.
  • The information is published in our public membership directory for verification and networking purposes. If you do not wish to be included, you may opt out.
  • The information is provided to our agents, vendors, or service providers who perform functions on our behalf.  This includes:
    • Hosting providers for the secure storage and transmission of your data.
    • Learning Technology Providers (LTP) and Online Events.
    • Exam Providers for exam scheduling and delivery.
    • Payment Solution Providers for secure payment processing.
    • Regional Service Providers in Southeast Asia for operational support or international network development.

Information Collection Through the Use of Cookies

We may obtain information about your general internet usage by using “cookies”.  Our website may use:

International Transfer of Personal Data (Indonesia and Southeast Asia)

By providing us with your Personal Data, you acknowledge and agree that we may from time to time transfer your Personal Data to our offices, affiliates, agents, or designated representatives located in Indonesia and countries in Southeast Asia or globally, in line with our vision to expand our network and international recognition.  Where we transfer personal data, we ensure that the transfer is subject to appropriate safeguards as recognized by local data protection laws. Please do not send us any Personal Data if you do not want your data to be transferred internationally.

Security and Other Matters

We use reasonable measures to safeguard and secure the personal data we collect, including the use of technologies such as Transport Layer Security (TLS) and Secured Socket Layer (SSL). Any transmission of personal information is at your own risk. You should take all normal personal precautions (e.g., not sharing passwords).

Parents and Children

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. Parents have the right to stop the registration of children under the age of 13 by contacting us.

User Rights and Data Protection Officers

Your rights regarding your Personal Data depend on the local laws in the jurisdiction where you live (Indonesia and Southeast Asia).

Individual Rights in Indonesia and Southeast Asia

You may be subject to certain rights in relation to your Personal Data, including:

  • Right of Access and Correction: The right to access and/or request correction of your Personal Data.
  • Right to Object: The right to block and/or refuse the processing of your Personal Data (e.g., for profiling or direct marketing activities).
  • Right to Legal Assistance: As a Member, you have the right to receive legal assistance from AKP2I if you have legal issues in the field of taxation.
